Women and Heart Disease
At Saint Vincent, we know the truth about women and heart disease, and you should too. Heart disease is the cause of death for one in three women, but, because more men than women have heart attacks, many believe that heart disease is a men’s problem. The truth is women’s heart attacks can be more damaging and are more often fatal.
The Saint Vincent Women’s Heart Health Program
The region’s leaders in heart health at Saint Vincent understand women’s cardiac care needs. Because women’s heart care needs are unique, Saint Vincent offers a program specifically designed to educate women about their risk for heart disease and prevention strategies.
The Saint Vincent Women’s Heart Health program provides women with educational material, dietary advice, online heart-health information, access to cardiac risk assessments, exercise classes and a Women’s Heart Hotline. In the event of a heart attack, cardiologists are located at Saint Vincent Health Center 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide the kind of care you need when you need it the most.
For more information about Saint Vincent’s programs and services for women’s heart health, call the Saint Vincent Women’s Heart Hotline at 814-866-4822.
