Meet the Saint Vincent Clinical Practice Educators

Educators. Mentors. Coaches. Guides. These words describe the Saint Vincent clinical practice educators, an expert group of advanced practice nurses who coordinate educational experiences for RNs, LPNs, professional nursing assistants, nursing students and patient care associates. Our clinical practice educators share their years of experience with nurses at all phases of their careers. Chances are, you will have the opportunity to work with one of these very special nurses during your career as a Saint Vincent caregiver. Here are just a few examples of what they do for

Nursing Students

• Work directly with nursing school faculty members to provide information on updated policies and procedures, documentation and new equipment.
• Assist students and faculty members with classroom and unit-based educational experiences.
• Assist with and/or coordinate the Saint Vincent Professional Nursing Assistant Program to ensure that participating students receive the support and training they need and deserve.

Graduate Nurses

• Design personalized classroom and clinical orientation programs for each GN and GPN who joins the Saint Vincent team.
• Support new grads during their 8- to 12-week orientation experiences, through weekly meetings.

Experienced RNs and LPNs

• Coordinate unit-based orientation experiences.
• Provide house-wide nursing education on new policies, products, procedures and equipment.
• Design curriculum and coordinate continuing education in response to nurses’ needs.
• Coordinate the Saint Vincent RN/LPN Refresher Course for nurses who are re-entering the acute-care nursing field after an absence from it.
