Jeffrey Clemente, MD
PGY3/Family Medicine

A native of Bloomfield, NJ, Jeff attended medical school at the University of the East in Quezon City, Phillipines. He comes from a medical family including a physician father, RN mother and physician wife, fellow resident Cecelia. He and his wife enjoy traveling and dining out. Jeff also is an avid sportsman, playing tennis, golf and basketball.
   
Christina Griffith, DO
PGY3/Family Medicine
Christine was born in Etters, PA and attended Towson University in Towson, MD and LECOM in Erie, PA. As a recent newlywed and homeowner, Christine enjoys learning to cook and garden. What she enjoys the most about medicine is the challenge that each patient brings and knowing what a powerful impact she can have on a person to improve their overall health, wellness and quality of life.
   
Rebecca Seifert, DO
PGY3/Family Medicine

Rebecca is a native of southern California and moved to the Midwest where she attended high school. She earned her undergraduate degree in Duluth, Minnesota then moved to Erie to attend the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is married with two daughters and a son. She enjoys living in Erie with her family but looks forward to eventually returning to Minnesota where she intends on practicing family medicine with an emphasis on OMT, women’s health and children’s medical care.
   
Kimberly Thomas, MD -
PGY3/Family Medicine

Kimberly Thomas, M.D. is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service in Development Economics & Russian from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. She attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and receive a Master of Science in Public Health. What Kim likes about medicine is the chance to help people and the ability to get to know a family and affect their health. She has an interest in Obstetrics and community health in underserved communities. Her personal interests include hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, bicycling, spending time with her husband, son and daughter.
   
Michael Yates Jr, DO
PGY3/Family Medicine

Michael is Saint Vincent’s in-house opera singer. A southerner, he obtained his undergraduate education from Georgia Southwestern State University and Oxford College of Emory University. He then migrated north to the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical training. Michael’s family still calls Georgia home – he likes traveling back home to play a round of golf with his father at the local course. He remains an active singer and even plays the tuba once in while.
   

Katerina Nacopoulos, MD
PGY2/Family Medicine

Katerina is originally from Fairview, PA and earned her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University and attended Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA.  The thing she likes most about medicine is spending time with people and the overall humanitarian aspect of medicine.  She’s especially drawn to Community Health Education and Women’s Health.  In her spare time, Katerina enjoys singing, piano and Greek folk dance. 

   

Jeremy Riedesel, MD
PGY2/Family Medicine

Jeremy is originally from Westfield, NY and earned his undergraduate degree from Jamestown Community College and the University of Cincinnati.  He earned his graduate degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati.  Jeremy especially likes hearing patients tell stories of their lives.  Jeremy is drawn to the continuity of care from birth to childhood to adulthood.  Jeremy has an identical twin, Chris, and enjoys puzzles, vintage comics, baseball, vintage cars, trivia and juggling.

   

Priyanka Chadha, MD
PGY1/Family Medicine

Priyanka is a native of Allahabad, India.  She attended Government Medical College in Nagpur, India for her medical education.  Priyanka likes how medicine involves the unique responsibility of helping and caring for people while also providing a continuing intellectual challenge.  She enjoys all aspects of Family Medicine with a special interest in Women’s health and musculoskeletal medicine.  In her time off, Priyanka enjoys listening to Indian music, watching movies, bicycling and reading books.  She also likes to participate in badminton, table tennis, carom and chess.

   

Christopher Serafini, DO
PGY2/Family Medicine

Christopher grew up right here in Erie and attended Allegheny College for his baccalaureate degree and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical training.  He currently resides in the area with his wife Michelle and daughter Gabriella.  As an osteopathic intern, Christopher enjoys the part of medicine where a complete stranger can come to him for advice and he can aid that person.  He’s especially drawn to Family Medicine and takes pleasure in having a wide variety of areas of medicine to see and experience while at Saint Vincent.  He enjoys camping, mountain biking, snowboarding and playing video games in his spare time.

   

Justin T. Gathercoal, DO
PGY2/Family Medicine
Justin traveled to us from Camarillo, CA with his wife, Jennifer.  He attended Gustavus Adolphus College for his baccalaureate education and then the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical training.  Justin chose medicine because of his constant interaction with patients, continued learning throughout his career and the ability to help others in need.  He truly enjoys the hands-on aspect of surgery and the mental challenges provided with internal medicine.  Playing drums, golfing and juggling take up a lot of Justin’s spare time here in Erie.

   

James Gade, DO
PGY2/Family Medicine

Originally from Minerva, Ohio, James graduated from Miami University (Ohio) and attended the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine before coming to Saint Vincent as an Osteopathic Intern. He lives in town with his wife Carlie. James really enjoys the daily challenge of medicine and his spare time consists of snow skiing and woodworking.

   
Michael Pena, MD
PGY1/Family Medicine
Michael attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for his undergraduate studies and Colorado State University, Northwestern University for his graduate studies. Michael graduated from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Originally from Rapid City, South Dakota, Michael enjoys restoring old cars and astronomy in his spare time. He enjoys talking to his patients the most - many have interesting and funny stories to tell. Michael is especially drawn to the pharmacological aspect of medicine, especially mechanisms of action. One notable fact about Michael, he is used to be an assistant professor of organic chemistry.
   
Mohammad Elmusa, MD
PGY1/Family Medicine

Mohammad lives in Erie with his wife, Mariana and son, Fadi. Originally from Amman, Jordan, Mohammad attended SoFia Medical University in Bulgaria. He enjoys football and soccer, music cooking and the company of family and friends. He embraces the challenge of incorporating compassion and caring for those in need with the continuous learning that a physician must do. Mohammad has a special interest in Peptic Ulcer Disease and Upper Endoscopi Diagnostic Testing. He is also interested in the study of organizations, pursuing a MA in Organizational Leadership by writing his thesis: Organizational Microclimate.
   
Sr. Angela Iniobong Akpabio, MD
PGY1/Family Medicine
Sister Angela comes to Erie from her hometown of Abak, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Her undergraduate studies took place at Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan, afterwards pursuing her medical degree from Wayne State University. In her off time, she enjoys dancing, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Sister Angela feels that medicine is the single most gratifying means of reaching out to the poor and suffering and she is especially drawn to working with the medically-underserved population. Sister Angela has a desire to do at least 1% of what Mother Teresa was able to achieve during her life on Earth.
   

Andrew Chidester, MD
PGY1/Family Medicine

Andrew is originally from Morgantown, West Virginia where he attended West Virginia University for his undergraduate degree. Marshall University’s School of Medicine was his choice for medical school. In his spare time, Andrew likes to go fishing, hunting and skiing. He enjoys the challenge of medicine and the constant interaction with people. Andrew is specifically interested in international and sports medicine.

   
Sarah Bendel, DO
PGY1/Family Medicine/Osteopathic Intern
Sarah, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, attended Allegheny College for her undergraduate studies and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for her medical school training. She lives in Erie with her husband Matt and enjoys skiing, running and gardening. The one thing Sarah likes most about medicine is the diversity.
   
Tom Slokan, DO
PGY1/Family Medicine/Osteopathic Intern

Tom, originally from Moundsville, West Virginia attended West Liberty State College for his undergraduate studies and West Virginia University for his graduate education. Tom also attended the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical school training. In his spare time, Tom likes to go boating, fishing, play golf and his guitar. The items that Tom likes about medicine are: working with patients, applying his education, challenging myself to educate my patients and not just prescribing medication. Family medicine, especially preventative care education, interests Tom the most about his field. Prior to medical school, Tom spent over two years working in the Washington, D.C. area as a safety engineer.
