Stopping Heart Attacks

Saint Vincent is your best choice for heart attack care. If you experience any of the symptoms below, don’t wait, call 911, and insist on Saint Vincent. (More information on signs and symptoms)

During a heart attack, every second counts. The longer your heart is deprived of a blood supply and oxygen, the more heart muscle is damaged. The Heart Stat team at Saint Vincent re-opens blood vessels faster than any other hospital in the region. No other hospital can compare.

For heart attack, choosing an emergency department is a critical decision. That’s why Saint Vincent has cardiologists on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Saint Vincent is the only hospital in the region ranking in the elite top ten percent of national hospitals for re-opening blood vessels by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Know the symptoms:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Shortness of breath
  • Increased or irregular heart rate
  • Pain in the shoulders, neck, arms, upper abdomen or jaw
  • Lightheadedness or fainting
  • Paleness and nausea
  • Cold, sweaty skin

If you experience any of these symptoms, don’t wait, call 911, and insist on Saint Vincent. (More information on signs and symptoms)

The American College of Cardiology says that door-to-balloon time is an indicator of the success of your cath lab. This is the time it takes a patient to be treated, from the time they enter the ER until the problem is corrected. In the last quarter, we had 100% below the national 90 minute goal.
