For patients with serious illnesses, finding adequate care after being discharged from the hospital can be stressful. In order to provide the necessary care and alleviate some of the worries, Saint Vincent Health Center established the Progressive Care Center.
The 14-bed facility is operated by skilled nurses and physicians and is designed to treat patients who do not require acute care but still need special attention. The Progressive Care Center is hospital-based to allow immediate access to the emergency services of Saint Vincent, should they be needed.
A sub-acute, hospital-based facility has become necessary as patients with serious illnesses are being discharged from the hospital earlier. The Progressive Care Center at Saint Vincent emphasizes individualized care for every patient.
