AED Maintenance Project Heart Start: AEDs for Community OrganizationsServices

Making sure you and your AED are in working order

Project Heart Start wants to ensure that the AED devices available throughout the community are being properly maintained and that the owners of these devices are taking the required training courses every two years.

AED Maintenance
The owner of the device should be doing a weekly maintenance check to ensure the device is still working. If your AED “beeps” or has a “red light with an x” instead of a green light, this is a sign that your AED is not working properly. If your AED is not working properly, our Project Heart Start Coordinator can assist you at 814-452-7741.

AED and CPR Training
All owners of AED’s are required to take “CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace” training every two years. This course teaches the fundamentals of CPR and how to maintain and operate the AED device. The material for this course is provided by American Safety & Health Institute and taught through the Saint Vincent Education Department. To schedule training please call 814-452-5606.

If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding Project Heart Start and your AED, please contact the Heart Start Coordinator, Lora Joint, at 814-452-7741.
