SAINT VINCENT AUXILIARY PRESENTS THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES

The Saint Vincent Auxiliary and Saint Vincent Health Center are proud to present the 26th annual Festival of Trees, a popular five-day holiday extravaganza to be held at the Ambassador Conference Center, 7792 Peach Street, Erie, PA.  

The 2010 Festival of Trees will kick off with an invitation-only “Light up Night” on Tuesday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m. and then open to the general public on Wednesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 28.  

Visitors will be treated to more than 60 professionally decorated Christmas trees, each one designed to showcase the varied talents of many local decorators.  There will be entertainment throughout the Festival, a Vendor Boutique featuring unique gifts available for purchase, a special Breakfast with Santa and new this year, Santa’s Castle, an eight-room magical place for the little ones.  ErieDAWN will once again present: “No Room at the Inn” a display of 50 Nativity Scenes from around the world!  

The Saint Vincent Auxiliary selected the theme “BELIEVE!” as the inspiration for this year’s event.    

“We believe in the spirit of the holidays, in promoting good, quality family time and we believe in the tradition of this festival,” said Tony Bruno, director of Saint Vincent Volunteer Services.  “We are pleased to be able to showcase these beautiful trees and to provide great family fun with our Breakfast with Santa and Santa’s Castle.”  

The 2010 Festival of Trees officially kicks off on Tuesday, November 23rd at 6:30 p.m. during “Light up Night,” an invitation-only Premiere Gala. Tree sponsors and decorators, hospital leadership and members of the Festival Committee and Saint Vincent Auxiliary will be given a ‘sneak peak’ at the Festival of Trees during this special lighting ceremony.  

The Festival of Trees is then open to the public from Wednesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 28 where the beautifully decorated Christmas Trees will be on full display.  Specific hours of operation are:

  • Wednesday, 11/24 10:00am-9:00pm
  • Thursday, 11/25 3:00pm-8:00pm
  • Friday, 11/26 10:00am-9:00pm
  • Saturday, 11/27 10:00am-9:00pm
  • Sunday, 11/28 12:00pm-5:00pm  

“Breakfast with Santa” will be held on Saturday, November 27th.  Families will have the opportunity to choose a seating time of 8:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.  During this event the children will be able to meet and ask for autographs from more than 10 local mascots, which include the Chick Fil-A Cow, Wally & Wendy from Waldameer, C. Wolf, Fin the Dolphin & Pepper the Penguin from Splash Lagoon and Grimace from McDonalds.  During the breakfast, the Wesley Lamplighters Puppet Ministry will perform and then offer a special children’s story time featuring “The Night Before Christmas.”  

Of course, no Christmas event would be complete without Santa Claus who will make a special appearance and be available for visits with the children as well as pictures taken by a professional photographer.  Ticket prices for Breakfast with Santa, which include admission to the Festival of Trees and Santa’s Castle, is $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. New this year is Santa’s Castle! This eight-room magical event for children features the Gingerbread Kitchen, North Pole Express, the Claus’ Room, the Elf’s Workshop, Frosty’s Living Room, the Grand Ballroom, Santa’s Throne Room and the Candy Cane Confectionary.  

“We are very excited to provide this new addition to the Festival of Trees,” said Rebecca Styn, the chairperson for the 2010 Festival of Trees.  “This is such a beautiful event and we wanted to make it even more magical for the children who visit and I think they will be in awe of what we’ve created.”  

General admission to the 2010 Festival of Trees is $8 for adults, $5 for children (12 & under), $25 for a family of four and Group discounts are available for organizations purchasing more than 15 tickets. Ticket prices for Breakfast with Santa, which include admission to the Festival of Trees and Santa’s Castle, is $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.   Tickets may be purchased in advance by visiting www.svfestivaloftrees.org, by calling (814)452-5359, or at any “Erie General Electric Federal Credit Union” location. 

Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Admission includes access to the gallery of 60 professionally decorated trees, a visit through Santa’s Castle, the opportunity to vote for your favorite tree, a chance at winning a $1,000 grand prize, and an opportunity to visit the Vendor Boutique.  

The Saint Vincent Auxiliary, a non-profit organization, is a group of more than 500 volunteers whose mission is to assist Saint Vincent Health System through various volunteer opportunities and to raise money to assist the Health System with specific clinical advancement projects.  Currently, the Auxiliary is working towards fulfilling a $1 million dollar pledge to create an endowment for Cancer Care & Research at Saint Vincent.  All proceeds from the Festival of Trees will benefit this initiative.
