Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Review the history behind the FDA mandated Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies.
- Identify the components of Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies.
- Describe the current and future implications to healthcare prescribers of Risk Evaluation Mitigation Strategies.
- List nurse characteristics identified in the literature that can influence nurse’s perception of patient’s pain.
- Recognize barriers to appropriate pain assessment and management.
- Discuss the impact of educational sessions on nurses scores on a validated pain survey.
- Review the implications this has on physician care of patients with pain.
