Dr. Cogley began his career at Saint Vincent as a resident in the Saint Vincent Health Center Family Practice Residency Program where he also served as director of the program.  He has held various clinical and administrative positions at Saint Vincent before assuming his present post in 1997. 

Dr. Cogley is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with a medical degree from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine.  After completing the three-year family practice residency at Saint Vincent, Dr. Cogley also spent two years as chief of the medical and dental staff at the Mescalero Indian Hospital in Mescalero, New Mexico.  Dr. Cogley is board-certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualifications in geriatric medicine.  He holds appointments as clinical assistant professor of family and community medicine at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and as clinical assistant professor of family medicine at MCP Hahnemann.

Dr. Cogley has been active in the Erie community, serving most recently on the boards of The Regional Cancer Center and EmergyCare (a regional EMS provider).  Dr. Cogley’s professional activities include the American College of Physician Executives, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Medical Group Management Association.
