Maureen “Mo” Melia Chadwick has been a member of the Saint Vincent family for 25 years and has held various leadership positions. Her roles have included off-shift supervisor, assistant nurse manager for orthopedics and neurology, and manager of medical oncology and IV therapy. Maureen has held several director positions which included director of cardiovascular telemetry/IV therapy; director of inpatient cardiology (CCU, CVICU and Telemetry); and director of the Saint Vincent Heart Center labs. Most recently, Maureen has held the position of director of perioperative services for the Health Center. In this role, Maureen had 24-hour accountability for 11 operating rooms and PACU which saw 6,500 procedures annually. She was also responsible for the Endoscopy suite, Short Stay/Pre-admission Unit and Urology Suite. Outside of Saint Vincent, Maureen has been an adjunct faculty member at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, where she has taught nursing research, management and capstone courses for the past two years.
Maureen began her nursing career in Pittsburgh, graduating with a diploma in nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She then earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University and her Master’s of Science in Nursing Administration from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, where she was named “Graduate Student of the Year.” She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). Maureen has been published in several national nursing journals and has given presentations at national conferences. She is a true believer in the value of team work and has presented and written about the effectiveness of strong teamwork, working relationships and the effectiveness of positive leadership techniques. Maureen enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, astronomy and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers football team.
