SAINT VINCENT URGENT CARE OPENS IN HARBORCREEK
Saint Vincent Health Center responds to consumer demands for faster, more convenient access to health care with the opening of the first of two Saint Vincent Urgent Care Centers. Saint Vincent Urgent Care is the region’s only hospital-based facility to provide a convenient alternative to the hospital emergency department for minor illnesses and injuries or for those who require medical attention from a primary care physician after hours.
A special ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Saint Vincent Urgent Care – East, located at Saint Vincent East Harbor Primary Care, 4950 Buffalo Road in Harborcreek Township. Participating in the ceremony were Angela Bontempo, President & CEO, Saint Vincent Health System; Richard Cogley, MD, Saint Vincent Chief Medical Officer; and Allan Johnson, DO, Medical Director of Saint Vincent Urgent Care.
The Saint Vincent Urgent Care - East is the first of two planned Urgent Care Centers, to be opened and operated by Saint Vincent Health Center in 2009. A west county location is expected to be announced in the coming months. Saint Vincent Urgent Care - East will offer patients direct access to board certified physicians, assisted by nursing staff and will also provide on-site imaging and patient testing through Associated Clinical Laboratories. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 10 am – 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am – 5 pm. No appointments are necessary and most insurances are accepted.
Saint Vincent Health Center, the region’s busiest health care facility, continues to care for an increasing number of residents in the hospital’s emergency department. Following an extensive evaluation, Saint Vincent administrators decided to open two Urgent Care Centers to offer time-pressed patients with quicker, more convenient access to medical care for their urgent medical needs as opposed to emergent medical issues which will still be handled by the Saint Vincent Emergency Department. The Saint Vincent Urgent Care also allows Saint Vincent Health Center the ability to maintain the expertise and quality of care which patients expect from Saint Vincent, but now in a more convenient setting.
Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie’s first hospital, is now a 427-bed tertiary care and teaching center. With approximately 3,000 employees and an active medical staff of nearly 300 physicians, the health center offers a full range of hospital and health care services to residents of the tri-state region. Growing volumes have been matched by advances in technology and high levels of patient satisfaction. Saint Vincent is nationally recognized as a health care quality leader by organizations such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Joint Commission and consistently scores in the top 10% among hospitals in the nation on a number of quality measures. Additional centers of excellence include cardiovascular diseases, the neurosciences, orthopedics, maternal child health and oncology.
